Junior QA Engineer (Part Time)

Do you enjoy finding bugs where others miss them? Do you see a real purpose in testing, want to grow in QA long term, and do not just view it as a quick stepping stone to software development? We are looking for a part time colleague to join our Capybara team at Notum Technologies as a Junior QA Engineer.

Do not expect corporate templates or mindless, context free ticket clicking, which is exactly why we are looking for a QA Engineer, not just a passive tester. You will get to test modern websites for global clients, and we will gradually introduce you to test automation. At Notum, QA is a standalone, respected craft where you can grow both technically and in your career.

You will not be sitting alone in an isolated QA corner. You will be a direct part of the DEV team. This means you will get the space and responsibility to actively give feedback and speak up about anything you see fit.

What awaits you?

• Manual testing with a twist: You will not just check if a button works. You will look at websites through the lenses of responsiveness, user experience, SEO, and accessibility.
• Working with a modern CMS: Most of our projects run on Strapi. We will teach you how to work with it, how to test content, components, and publishing.
• Path to automation: We will not let you stagnate. We will gradually teach you the basics of automated testing using Playwright (TypeScript). The goal is clear: write and deploy your first simple automated test within 3 months.
• Community and support: You will work closely with developers, PMs, and senior testers. In our testing chapter, we regularly share knowledge, so you will never be left to figure things out alone.

What will your typical week look like?

Since this is a part time role, we need to make the most of our time together, but fairly for both sides. Personal collaboration within the team is our top priority:

• Daily face to face presence in the office: We are looking for someone who can show up at our office every day in person. Especially at the beginning, you will learn the most by sitting side by side with us. Catching the team rhythm remotely from home is tough. However, we completely understand that you sometimes need to adjust your working hours, like when you are battling exam periods. In those moments, we can always work it out humanly, and an occasional home office is definitely not a problem.
• Monday planning: Every Monday, we put our heads together to plan our capacities and tasks for the entire week ahead so that we are all on the same page.
• Daily team standups: Every day, we meet briefly for a whole team standup. It is not an interrogation, but a space to quickly share your current status, including what you are working on, where you need advice or help, and what your plan is for the rest of the day.
• Efficient workflow: We will have the work ready for you so that you do not waste time looking for it as a part timer. At the same time, we appreciate it when you use your own head, evaluating where to push harder and where you can ease off because it is no longer a high priority.

We are looking for you if:

• You are looking for a part time job (ideal alongside university or as a kickstart in the industry).
• You already have experience with web testing (ideally 1 to 2 years) and feel comfortable with basic navigation in ticket tools (like Jira or Asana). You are not intimidated by a backlog, and you know what a standup or planning looks like in practice. Any previous experience with automated testing is a huge plus!
• You understand what a branch, commit, push, pull, and merge mean. You know why changes are never pushed directly into main, and the basic Git workflow (create branch → update test → commit → push → create pull request) makes perfect sense to you.
• You can navigate HTML/CSS, you are not afraid to open the browser console (Chrome DevTools), and you know what SEO addresses and why website accessibility matters.
• You are an organized person and a detail oriented thinker who keeps things structured, but you also do not lack communication skills, simply put, you are not afraid to go to developers and openly ask "why" things work the way they do.
• You have analytical thinking, can see things in context, and naturally think about different scenarios, alternative user paths, and potential consequences when testing.
• You can communicate in English (B2 level), as most of our clients are from abroad.
• You have a huge appetite to learn, the right attitude, and a genuine interest in web quality, previous long experience is not a strict requirement. Your way of thinking is much more important to us.

2. In person meeting: We will meet at our office, discuss technical details, and you will meet the team. A small practical task focused on your way of thinking will also be part of the meeting right on the spot. No stress, we do not want to catch you out on minor details, we just want to see how you approach problems and what questions you ask.
